AI Providers
You need at least one model connection. Configure them in Settings → Providers — not in a terminal.
In the app

Then set the default in Settings → Model. The composer picker overrides this chat only.
Recommended
If you only set up one thing, set up Nous Portal. One login covers models plus web, images, TTS, and browser.
Keys on disk
API keys stay in this profile's local secrets file. Exporting a profile from the command palette strips keys. Treat backups of ~/.hermes/ as sensitive.
